Matthew West Just Certified

I have spent the last month becoming certified with my new K9 partner, "Teddy". As a new handler, the course was a learning experience, consisted of long hours, but was tremendous fun! I am looking foward to working with Teddy and the other officers in my K9 team!

Rod Butts Former MWD handlers

I was just curious, are there many former military working dog handlers that have used what they learned and applied it to the civilian community.

I had always wanted to train and work dogs. When I got the chance while in the Army I jumped at it. After 6 months OJT and 10 weeks at Lackland AFB I was excited. After leaving the military I went into law enforcement and again got the chance to work with dogs. From there I have studied other methods of training and now teach obedience and b

Mike Clinton Bite Work Training

Hi...I'm Mike from Florida and I have a training question... I have a 5yo black / tan purebred german shepherd dog that I got from a local rescue group. I've had him for about 2-1/2 months and recently started seeing him picking up on bite work. He is absolutely awesome on the rag, tries to tear the bite pillow apart. But I do not have any sleeves or helper. I'd really want to see him intensify his bite work, yet I don't know where to go from here. He is pretty decent on his obedience and bark o… Continue

Robert W. Vaughan Welcome to my blog-site!

So I've decided to keep an online record of my experience in training my now 8 month old German Shepherd. His registry name is "Hans mit Sand Zwischen Seinen Zehen" which in German means "Hans, with sand between his toes." I chose his name because he is an all BLACK GSD, except for the beautiful sandy sable color between his toes, which is quite beautiful, and distinctive.

But I didn't choose him based on color. Hans was selected based on multiple factors, incl

Brenda Day GSD Available

Hi, does anyone need or know of someone who needs a GSD-green dog. Linus is 9 months old, fully obedience trained and fully socialized on all types of flooring and vehicles. Mike Murdock Winter's comin'!

Hey sports fans-gettin' a mite chilly down here on the ass end of the world-winter's on the way, and the "Hawk" is definitely out! Business is still kind of erratic-this week we're working a trucking business that's being taken over by a bigger rival, and the result is a bunch of unhappy truckers, with me and the mutt caught in the middle! Ah well-such is the life of a mercenary dog-handler-at least we're working...hope that you all are safe and well-stay that way! Continue

Mike Murdock Back on the radar

Hey sportsfans-been awhile since I bored any of you out there in dogland-business at the ass end of the world has been pretty quiet, the GFC still in evidence in this neck of the woods-not as much as work guarding the type of sites that I usually do-construction companies are pulling in their belts-security appears to be a "luxury", rather than a necessity, and I'm still herding drunks and malcontents out of tavern car parks, this time at The Wharf Tavern at Maloolaba, on the Sunshine Coast, her… Continue

Brenda Day Opinion Needed, thanks Everyone

Hi Everyone,
I'm in the process of setting up a K9 kennel/import business for police, sheriff and military k9 dogs. I have a question for your opinion and advice.
I recently helped a K9 officer and his family, of the Sioux City Police Department, purchase a Mal pup. I financed the purchase for them, that is, I paid for the pup and shipping. They are paying me back on time a set amount each month according to their budget. They are thrilled and will be happy to post a video once the pup… Continue

Becky Kamperman Obedient training course for handler?

Hi Y'all,

I am fighting to keep my assigned positive response K-9 from being fired. To make a long story short, there was an incident at Dulles airport, regarding a child being bit by a (CBP) mali and guess what I have, a mali. She given a temperment test, which she passed, however, when I went to praise her for a job WELL DONE, she went high for her praise, as we've always done. Meanwhile, this freaked out the powers to be and I was placed on obedient training remedial for 30 days. No
