I am an obedience trainer for PetSmart, trying to make a difference.

Reznor = Why Crates Work

From Reznor
I work in The Woodlands, TX where many people adopt from the shelter and other local rescue groups. Also, many local dog owners have chosen working breeds as their pets (including me). As you can see why from this pic, I strongly advocate crating to avoid leaving your working dog to find a job of her own! Reznor has chosen to promote dentistry while I unpacked my grocery bags!

This is Gracie, my landlord's dog (sort of). She showed up about a year ago in their front yard. Since my landlord is involved in rescue, she took her in and had her vetted (shots/spay/meds, etc). She was only about 6mos old then. This was all very…

Dax is doing much better thanks for asking. I had him looked at but the vet said his ears were fine. He thought it might have been the pressure from such a loud thunder storm that made his ears hurt for a week or so. He hasn't had any trouble with the last few storms that have come through. I think that the thunder cd I have been playing at training might have helped also.So how are things with you and your dogs.

Sorry I missed part of your thread, I did all my obedience myself. I've put hundreds of hours into him. We've done the basics and if I could find some time I tried tracking with him as well.

Thanks for looking. As a matter of fact, I do photography on the side. I love it and I have had great luck with the experiences that it's provided. Usually I photo military/police operations and units and animals. I love doing photography that captures real life experiences, not staged shots. Thanks for the encouragement and the pics of your guys are great.

Thanks for the suggestion about the vet I will get his ears checked this week. The problem started about 2 weeks ago when we got caught in a micro-burst thunder storm while on foot patrol. We were about 200 yards from the truck and the thunder was loud enough to bother me so it must of really bothered him. Now he heads for the truck everytime there is a storm. he will come back to a heal if i tell him to but his tail is between his legs and he hugs my leg. He heads back to the truck the first chance he gets. he has always be solid on his down and stay with gunfire and all other loud noise's don't bother him at all.If we are doing bite work he doesn't care what's going on around him. Detection work is great even if there are loud noise's he just looks around to see where the noise came from and if it is a threat. it seems to be only when it's time for break or if the weather gets bad. I've started using the cd of thunder at training and when were playing at home and it doesn't seem to affect him at all. I'll make sure his ears are good at the vet's and let you know how he's coming along. Thanks again for the suggestion. Any help is greatly appreciated. matt
